Even our Head chefs need a day off of Husk to get married! The team at Husk is essentially what makes working at the restaurant such a coveted job. Everybody is special and encouraged to be themselves when representing Husk. From the Cowboy music that the Manager Kevin King blares in all the rooms full of celebrities & politicians to the casual style of dress that the servers wear, Husk is a jewel. I was most impressed that if you are a employee & your friends come to dine they are seated at the VIP table along with Celebrities & Politicians. It is a table that is in plain view of the cool Chef & his team as they prepare your dinner in the open kitchen.
If you think you're too important and can be disrespectful to a Husk hostess-Don't; unless you don't ever want to come into Husk again! They're the coolest people. I guess when you know that your food is the best, you don't get caught up with pretention. To say that Husk is THE TOP restaurant in Charleston, SC, is a understatement. Ask BON Appetite Magazine who gave it the Number 1 New Restaurant in America the first year it opened in 2011. Or GQ or Esquire Magazine. The food is 100% Heirloom and for all of us that ask what IS Heirloom Heritage food? Husk takes local farmers & products & either supports or finds support for them to reintroduce products that have become too expensive to continue growing. Either in terms of the breed of cow that needs special attention & feed to produce the highest quality of meat or the tomatoes that have been around for 100 years & need special soil for the farmer to continue to grow. All that takes money. The Angus beef growers of America can continue to produce in bulk, but not so the local farmer. Every ingredient that comes into Husk is southern grown or it doesn't get put on the menu. Every item on the menu has special herbs in its recipe that make people rave about Travis, the head chef, and makes people continue to reserve their special dinner months in advance.
