I love bicycles, I´ve always loved bicycles, especially when Albert rides bicycles- and I love the people that own these cool physical stores. They´re alway´s happy. They´re surrounded every day with totally cool and the latest tech fashion and colors of the coolest bikes. And the store of Feine-raeder is a totally exceptional beautifully designed store. "It has been 22 years and I love my life. I love the bikes and I love the people that come here and try the bike and take it around the city and they come back and say thankyou very much for helping me with my bike. It is my love and my life." says the real physical owner of Feine-Raeder, Claus. Yes Santa Claus!                                                                                 Feine Räder - Logo

The coolest thing about the electric mom mobile as I tend to name it is that you can carry your children and do super mercato shopping without too much effort. It ranges from about 5,700.euros and although I asked if it could come in my favorite color pink, the owner said he has green, blue, white and black. Alright you can always custom order!

"And we have 24 hr. repair, too, which is important for everybody yet especially the students. You know everyone of these students could afford my bikes. Do you know how much they spend on Beer?!" he says. And that is true...a good backpack at the store is saw 49.00 euors ot 139.00 euros. The bike is 799.00 and last 6 to 10 years." the owner says. I say that if they drink Radlers instead of beer they can spend 1/2 that amount to the bikes!  helme2

                           http://www.feine-raeder.de/Aktuelles

        Above the cool owner Claus:)

"The students can come in here and if they spend 6 months or 3 years at Regensburg they can bike the 15 kilometer city every day. A bike if perfect for the city. Me? I ride my electric bike about 22 kilometers everyday back and forth to work. Yet the students love to do the fitness test. They come in and spend between 799.00 for a real good bike to 3,799.00 for the best bike.  And of course I don´t have any problem if they come in and spend 10,000.00 euros on the 5 kilo. carbon bike either...that is alright with me!" he jokes.

"The electric bikes is a odd perception. People think it is a motor scooter and you can just sit there, but you have to pedal it. Of course the little battery does all the work, but it helps to power and support the bike when you pedal." Now that is a new info for me!

Feine-Rader´s owner is Claus as in Santa Claus and is pictured above riding the mountain bike. You couldn´t meet a more genuine and nice person seriously.  And he LOVES biking. "I love the biking world and I use my Sundays and Mondays to have fun. My fun is biking!" he laughs all the time and loves his guests. The store is a architectural wonder!  "Yes we had a architect design it. The cool thing is that I almost 100% carry German Bikes. From the Specialized to the Stevens to the Reise-Muller they´re the best and when I need help from Hamburg they can help me that day. If I order parts from America it takes forever" he says.

You can find the Antico Mola at
                                                      Uhlandstraße 19, 93049 Regensburg
                                                                  Telefon:0941 64095360
On bus #1 Prufering to Goethestraße. Jump off and walk straight take the first right and walk 2 block. Then, now on the left side of Uhlandstraße is the restaurant.
"The most important thing for me everyday is that my guests feel like they are at home. When we invite guests to the home I want my guests at the restaurant to feel that way.Every night when everybody is at home and in bed he is on his computer! He writes the menu everynight. He does specials everyday and every item is kept in his memory...that is him" says Nicola and his Bosnian wife Doaeana. I say that at a bar called Palleti in the central city they have a picture on the wall that reminds me of the couple! They laugh and say they know it! Maria says that she "doesn´t like fish personally. I love his pizzas! All of my friends say the pizza is best in Regensburg." I somehow believe that since every dish that comes from the kitchen looks scrumptious. A fellow eating it keeps saying,"hmm, yum, hum..." at the near table and I figure it must be pretty good. "Yes and they love the fresh shark we buy from the Mercato, Metro, everyday. We see that the Germans love the Italian food. The tourists do find us, especially the Americans and the Chinese find us. Every Trip Advisor comment that they write is wonderful about us.We love when the people take the time to write about the restaurant. That is important for us that each person loves it here." they say.https://www.facebook.com/antica.mola1
"everybody that works at the restaurant is family! The nephew is the other cook!, the father is cook, the mother is service, and I bring drinks to the tables and hostess," says the daughter. "My father laughs since all the guests when they come here must kiss my mother!"
The daughter, Maria, translates for her father and mother. Her father is from Italy, Bari, and her mother is from Bosnia. "We met at La Gondola about 30 years now. In 2007 we opened the Antica Mola and we love the people that come here. That is most important, the guests. My wife greets the guests everyday and I cook."
slide4
"Yes the tourists kiss my mother too!" says Maria. "My father comes to each table and asks how the food is. He says that every plate that he makes he is alittle nervous although he has been a cook many years he says that each plate is new for him. He has 1,000 recipes and they´re all in his head. Every recipe is his." says Maria. The mother constantly and graciously asks me each time she passes the table if I would love to try the food. Honestly it "looks wonderful." she says! I say that I would love to try the shark!

Regensburg, home to the famous Thurn und Taxis family of such nobility that they were the Post Office system of the Roman Empire...Prince Albert 12th´s title today is Post Master General...now that is a cool title! The most significant historical achievement of the Thurn und Taxis family is the organization of the imperial postal system of the Roman Empire and in 1615 all hereditary rights to the male heir of the Thurn und Taxis,                     which as of today is Albert.

"You know my friends love me since they can find real beautiful rare jewelry here...at least the girls love me, their husbands and their boyfriends don´t love me! They spend too much money!" jokes Ernest. "Yet seriously we have some rare estate items that usually you don´t find in Germany. We import ours from America. Since the war the jewelers all fled with the big Gems to America for protection. When you have 100 jewelers leaving Germany that is a lot of jewelers. It effected the industry greatly. Now New York and Philadelphia and the east coast of America all have the Big Gems. We´re trying to change so that we carry the rare Big Gems too." he says. "You know I grew up in the West of Germany and with that came freedom. It gave us the right to speak and the women from Germany exercise that right all the time. They have equality in the work force too and you mentioned the fact that when women and men in Germany go to a dinner date they each pay their own. That is because the women are proud of the independance. That is something I know for a fact that American women say, WHAT!...they always expect the man to pay!" he says and I laugh. That is true. "For me when Stefan goes around the world finding the rare gems and estate sale items it comes here and I do the research on it. I like to tell the people about the piece that they buy. And especially love when they find a great estate piece. We have the emeralds and the diamonds and a lot of the 1920s and 1930s Art    Deco pieces. These can price anywear form 100,000.00 euros to 300.00euros. It just depends on the piece. Some people would love to come and buy a 3,000.euro art deco bracelet and a ring and a hair pin maybe and go out to dinner all decked out. Others like to wear something everyday. We have something for everybody to love." he says.
"We´re famous for our antique jewelry. My grandfather started the company 60 years now and it is the 3rd generation here. He started it because he said that he never wanted his family to go hungry. He was 10 years old when the war ended and he provided for his family ever since. He started with antique items such as the vintage grandfather clock you hear," says Ernest as the clock cuckoos real loud. "That is the only one that we have here at the store and honestly it isn´t for sale. He graduated to antique jewelry and now we do that such as estate pieces and rare gems....huge international diamonds." he says.

"For men in Germany you will see a man wear    a watch or drive a big car and that is a major status symbol for us. The other cultures around the world, except the Europeans, show off a little more jewelry. They wear the gold chains and rings etc. You won´t really see a German man wearing rings unless it is the married one." he says of the cultural differences.

                      Below:   GRAVENREUTHER Bavarian Restaurant

                                            at Hinter der Grieb 10, 094 15 5050

You´ll love the young fresh style and attitude of the owners and team at the Gravenreuther...above pictured drinking a beer is Michael. "I want my team to have a good time and the guests, too. You should really decide what you want about the restaurant. Yet I don´t hire the traditional stocky stern German woman who comes to the table and when you ask for a little beer late at night they say...WAIT TIL YOU FINISH WHAT YOU HAVE!...You know. We have a young staff that only wears traditional dirndls on Sundays. They smile and laugh with the guests. We have something that is special to the Bavarian Restaurants in Regensburg...the food is of the highest quality and it is a little tiny bit more expensive than others...plus we have the famous Bavarian Tapas. I worked at one of the most famous Barcelona Restaurants 3 years...great fish etc. and of course the tapas. When I came back to Bavaria I really wanted to introduce Tapas my style...Bavarian Style...and I have. 8 different tapás from The torpedo prawns to the white fish that you are having now!" says Michael.            http://www.gravenreuther.de/

"Yes that is a actual whole pig...the tourists love it...it feeds about 20 people and we mostly serve it for groups. You know 5 people could have a difficult time eating this pig!" jokes the young fun owner of the Traditional Bavarian Restaurant with a twist on the famous Hinter der Grieb alley...named Gravenreuther..."For the famous family who owned the entire street in the 1800s. They had a castle and stores here and later they split the stores to famous restaurants such as ours." says Michael Schulz. (The alley has the famous Kasper5, Vitus which is now Amore Vino and Amici and my friends that own the South African Cape Grape wine store...right around the corner from the Orphee...)

"We have a huge beer glass that holds 3 liters. Mostly stag parties or groups of girls will order that one...and it is relatively inexpensive. The one tradition with it is the table drinks one sip and the next person drinks one sip and the second to last person to finish it must pay for it...and of course some people drink or try to drink one liter of the 3 liters so that the person before them must pay...OOPS the problem is if the person doesn´t finish that one liter in one sip! Woops and the next person finishes it...Guess who pays! Some of the older traditional Bavarians and Germans come in and say we don´t want that tapa stuff...give us the white sausages etc and of course we have the high quality white sausages and Bavarian kitchen for these folks! And the beer garden...that is important too." He lets me try the white sausages tapas which by the way are only 2.70E each and it is a little meal...and yummy! I´ve had the soups a couple of em and the schnitzel here all very good...and his partner Rainer owns the dance club Zarap Zap Zap..."which is a late night dance pub and has Rock and Roll and people from 30 to 50s...fun people that love good music but not techno stuff...come try that too!" he says. http://www.zarapzapzap.de/

Here I am on Easter! surrounded by the young staff and team that has to work on Sunday while the big boss(above) is having fun with his friends and or family(wait that is christmas in America!)...Above-tom! and the team at the new Oma Plusch which is aptly named Oma in da Antn(the Grandma in the Golden Duck)...Meet Moritz, Robert!, ME, and the youngest Chef in Regensburg, MAX! at the age of 21!)

"I´ve been with Oma Plusch, Tomas, since about 4 years as a drinking visitor and 1 year as a team member,"says Moritz...he is the tall one with the glasses above:)..."he is the nicest person ever." he says. i say that yes he is since the first person ever to help an independant writer(me) when I came to Regensburg is Mr. Tomas. The nicest person ever. "The beer is different since now after 20 years we have a new beer. It´s name is Bischofshofs and Weltenburger. That is the main difference and now we have a big Beer garden that holds 300 people, we are introducing big outdoor screens that will showcase the European Soccer Championships and live Bavarian Music." he says. Anything else? "Yes a couple of new items on the menus since Max, the youngest chef in Regensburg at the age of 21 has added some tasty items. The one that is the favorite for us is his big Pork...we love it. " Robert, who has been here one month, "That is my favorite too...it is salty and a huge block of pork." Is it that real big pig? I ask. "No but I have cooked that whole pig for 20 people or more. As a matter of fact, when the groups eat it they´re real drunk and they attack the pig and tear it apart." says the young chef Max. REALLY? I ask. They all laugh. "Of course not! It is Bavaria. We have eaten with forks and knifes at least the last 10 years. Seriously. When we order the entire pig we eat with plates...but it is a tender pig and if you were at Medieval fair they would use their hands and shove it in their mouths!" he says.

I must warn you about Markus...yes is a totally bad emotional buy! When I exclaim the beauty and emotion of each bag...he says, " ah ya anyway the leather is hand stitched and guaranteed for a lifetime..." it is all about the quality and the material...!  http://www.mosdzen.de/

The famous Garbo Theater in Regensburg, above to the left is the owner named Achim! He laughs all the time and loves America as a matter of fact while I interviewed him yesterday he received a package with tour books of The National Parks! in America..."I am planning a trip to America´s West in a couple of weeks," he says. One of his best friend´s is "Do you know the owner of Filmbuhne in Regensburg? Karin? I love her she is wonderful," he says... would seem rather odd if his friends weren´t in the film business I say!

             http://www.kritiken.de/media/plakat/26041_trumbo_206.jpeg

What is Trumbo about? I ask since everybody is entering to see it. "That is a great movie. It is about the screen writer in Hollywood in the 1950s that was blacklisted since he was a communist. Great film. He made such movies as Spartucus, Exodus, and Roman Holiday which won the Academy Award. He was one of Hollywood´s elite screenplay writers yet because of the communist association his life was turned upside down.I admire the story." says the boss...me? it sounds pretty interesting and maybe it is one movie I shall see! The people who come here watch such movies as the one showing now of Batman vs. Superman! (Really?) I ask. "Actually in the movie they become friends." is all that Achim can say. It is a wonderful seating theater...a brilliant theater of arthaus classics. Must come...

"The good food, the nice company, the good atmosphere, the great beer garden and of course the location is why the people love the Hakcer Pschorr. That is why they come. The food is German. Some is Bavarian but we have a lot of meat here. We do Venison except for some reason the Americans don´t like to eat Venison," the charismatic owner of the Hacker Pschorr says. "I do a English menu for the Americans and I don´t include the Venison. We have the pig knuckles and the leg of pigs and if it is a big group the head of the pig. That they seem to enjoy ordering...I guess they love the Bavarian Traditional food." I´ve interviewed him the last 3 years and every year his conversation is the most entertaining! It is rarely about the food or the restaurant although we do talk about that. For instance today he talked about his vacations. He used to be in the military and traveled around the world for about 30 years. "I traveled to many places around the world and would see each country maybe one day. I went to Asia and Africa and the southern Caribean Islands and Curacai and the Grand Caymans and Cuba and South America and Central America. Some of my favorite places I revisited the last years on vacations. One that I love and I just got back from 4 weeks is the Beauty of the island Prair with its 12 islands. Simply beautiful and untouched by tourists and quiet. I mostly loved the quiet of the islands. " he says. He jokes a lot and is very intelligent.

"The tourists love the traditions of Bavaria, and they and the Germans love the Beer Gardens. We have a famous beer garden that is packed every day in the summer. The girls wear the dirndls since that is why you come to Bavaria right? You must learn culture and travel to many places around the world if you want to know the world." he says. And I say, That´s right. That is true.
"When I travel around the world I try the regional food. That is what life is about. The tourists come here to try the Bavarian Food. That is normal. They like the traditions." he says. "The tourists come in and I enjoy telling them about the fact that the dining room used to be a old dining room of a monastery since about 304 years. The building is 1245AD. That is quite old. We even have a famous ghost since you ask. I only believe in ghosts myself when me and the cook have about 7 beers and we find solutions to the menu and at that point we maybe see a little white mouse running across the floor...that is about as far as I go in beleiving in ghosts. However the legend of the Hacker Pschorr is that a monk died here named Hans in 1650. He became a ghost and would throw plates on the ground and the other monks were afraid of him. They would hear him when it is very windy. And the ghost would become very crazy. The the monks took the monk´s body out of the grave and transplanted him in a different area. In that region the devil took his soul. And the monks never heard him in the Hacker Pschorr house again." he says. I say that is too bad since I love Ghosts. "Yes I know you believe in God, in Ghosts and in Donald Trump, you already told me." he says. And I say that I think that Donald Trump would be refreshing for America in the sense that he would shake things up and people would watch the State of the Union addresses just to see what unpredictable things he would say. "He scares me." says the owner. "He is crazy and I can´t imagine him sitting down with the leaders of the world. Hillary is a much better politician." he says as we talk politics. A good conversationalist and wonderful food is what you will find here I say! Below the traditional dress of the Dirndl.

The wonderful lovely story of Anton Wirkes and his family                                  of Dirndls and Lederhosen:)http://trachtenshop.de/

Anton Wirkes, "It all happened about 25 years now...I started with being a photographer for the Motor Sports here in Regensburg and traveled everywhere around the world photographing MotorCross and having tons of fun yet of course making money was difficult! About 3 years and at that point I thought...hmm maybe I should import Turkish and Italian leather coats. When we knew that the ice cream stores were not used in the winter we asked to sell leather coats and we thought wow that is great but we had nothing to do in the summer."

Mr. Berger says that he was a waiter in a city near here named Bad Abbach and that every Sunday Mr. Wirkes came in for 7 years with his family. One day he came up to him and said that he loved the way that he dressed and would he love to come work for him? And now he is the regional manager that travels to every store and sees that each store is alright. I say that is a great story since he went from being a waiter to a regional manager just because Mr. Wirkes liked the way he dresses.  http://trachtenshop.de/

Regensburg? It is a lovely city with a Royal Family...
here to the left is the gorgeous ones everyone is gorgeous!
And it is known as the Family that is the Post Office Heirs of the Roman Empire..,the Thurn und Taxis...in addition it is a World Cultural Heritage Site...hope everybody comes to the famous Christkindle Mercatos at Christmas and the year round to experience the special quality you can find at the wonderful place.

"How I first opened my dirndl store? ...sitting in with my coats person and I see a woman in a dirndl outside my window. I said that I really loved that dirndl. In Bavaria we can say I love that dirndl and it is the girl or we can say I love that dirndl and it is the dress. The man laughed and said which one do you love and I said both! He said that dirndl comes from his company and that is how I started the dirndl business. We now have been in business about almost 15 years. I do 1,000 and 1,000s of dirndls now. I say O I want short dirndls and the designers say that I am crazy and they make these and we have 1,000s of orders and then I say I want middle length dirndls and the designers say that I am crazy and yet I win and they make these and we sell 1,000s of dirndls. I love the creative side to it all." Anton says. "Now I tell them , that I would love bigger shoulders you know wider straps and they say I am crazy but they know I sell a lot of dirndls and they do that now:"

The German girls are comfortable with the Dirndls yet the American girls would be braver in these...sexy and cool. Okay girls especially the girls from America and Austrailia who I know would love love love these totally cool soft leather lederhosens...they can be added suspenders and cool sexy tops to wear out to clubs...and the best is you can order these from the online store. Cool. The down side? "My wife doesn´t like when we go to Oktoberfest and events because she says that I don´t enjoy myself! That I am always saying o see that dirndl see that lederhosen...it is true!" Anton says.

The lovely candles handmade at Regensburg and shipped around the world...any religious denomination, birthdays, special events...they     even add photos if you want! http://www.kerzen-hueber.de/

"One of the reasons I do the Rosarium is since retiring you know I can't  just sit on the Golf Course all day and I can't just travel everywhere around the world...I've been everywhere! So I do this!"  I laugh.... Might as well stay at Regensburg nothing else to do!  "Exactly, " he says, "Hmm what should I do...lets open the Rosarium!" The city of Regensburg thought to close it and make it only a meeting house but Dr. Berghammer along with a partner rescued the Swiss Chalet and now it is the famous French Restaurant and Gardens. A lovely sight to see...

"The thing that I am most proud of is my new store that has only been here 3 years. It is beautiful." the owner of the Muhlbacher store in Regensburg says...in addition to the Rolex´s and Cartier they have their own signature designs. "When you´re surrounded by jewels all the time you still see the fascination. When I travel to Antwerp where everybody in the world shows the diamonds and the precious jewels I am always fascinated with these. I love the highest quality because of the brilliance of the cuts. The ones that range from 1milion euros to 10 million euros of course we purchase only if a special client orders it but it is fascinating to see these. Every day that I see the jewels I love my job! It is the best. I am the 4th generation of the family to enter into the jewelry business. And the aspect that I enjoy the most is when I deal with the public.     http://www.muehlbacher.de/ Ludwigstraße 1

"I am happy with the clients since they´re always happy of course when they come in to receive that special gift. Of course there is that person who was away and they bring the jewel in to return it and a couple of days later they want it back and I try to help as much as I can." He laughs. "Most of the time it is fun. The one thing that I learned never to ask is O Who is that gift for...I learned it is none of my business!" he laughs again and I say hmm.

The store is gorgeous as is prestigious jewelry stores around the world and Mr. And Mrs. Muhlbacher are precious. "I love the rose gold which is my favorite, " she says shyly...a beautiful woman all decked out in jewels as I would if my husband owned a jewelry store I say! She laughs and shows me the diamond tennis bracelets she wears. As for him? "I only wear a watch!" he admits. WHAT! I say in that cool store with so much eye-candy? "Us Germans we´re conservative. Once I wear these..." and he points to cufflinks...Diamond ones I hope? "They´re nice ones." is all he will say. Wow dress up time?

The other room if you speak English you can use it since it deals with PCs and finding the codes and clues to keys in the PCs and the Passwords. Although I am from Hungary and the first Escape Rooms where supposedly founded in Hungary I personally had never been in one when I thought of my first concept rooms here." says Stefan who has much fun showing you his imaginative and challenging rooms. "The rooms challenge the way one thinks and it makes people use their brains. I have videos on the rooms and radio communications and that lets me do a couple of things. One is that if I see they need a little help I can give clues to the guests. However some of the guests say to you when they do the rooms, don´t give me clues...I want to do it myself. The other way is that they can ask for help when they are in the rooms if they want it. Some keep going on and on and forget to ask!" he says. "If the 1hr. is up and they haven´t escaped I let them keep trying unless there are other people booked behind them. The point is to have fun and learn." I asked before if the people that don´t escape if he puts them in the dungeon basement? "No it doesn´t have a basement." he laughs.

Stefan, who has owned the wild and fun MATRIX which is the only Escape Room concept in Regensburg since December, says that he has made the rooms out of his own imagination only. http://roomescape.com/uploads/default/images/location_images/gallery/Exit_The_Matrix_Room_Escape_Game_Regensburg_217202_360x360.jpg

here you can play all day...at least til you escape!

In the computer room you are 1st challenged to enter by figuring it out the code to the door...then once inside you must find clues to open the pc passwords and clues inside the computer to the combination of the safe where the key to the door is...cool!

"Here the girls rule, at 32 minutes it is the fastest time that anyone has ever escaped the library room...
4 girls won that title...they were lucky since they happened to pick the first book out of many with the first clues in it..." says Stefan...
I guess that is a challenge to the guys to beat!

Meet the Sicilian Team in Regensburg that reminds you of the movie Goodfellows...the pictures on the wall, "From when my father moved from Sicily to Regensburg...they are real pictures not staged ones. I wanted to introduce the Sicilian Culture in the way of the food to Regensburg. It keeps me in touch with where my ancestors came from and it is the only restaurant that has the traditional home-made pasta Sicilian style and fresh fish from Trieste. My family had a almost 40 years University Italian restaurant and me and my partner, Andrea, moved here about 6 months now. I love it. It is fun. It is risky and it is young. I am very happy here with mostly my staff from Germany yet we do have one American at the bar and one girl from Poland!" Says Davide who along with his German waitresses say they have the best Italian food in town!

"As you can see we have REAL FRESH FISH!"

says the young owner, Davide!, who along with his other Sicilian born chef, Andrea!, bought the French Restaurant and turned it into a Homemade Pasta Swordfish Sicilian Italian Restaurant on the elegant Hinter der Grieb 8. It used to be Vitus. Around the alley is the famous Orphee.

The alley has Sicilian Italian, South African Winers, French Orphee...it is akin to walking down the United Nations!                                         094 19308 1525

Andrea´s father shows off the fresh fish that is brought from Trieste every Thursday to the Amore, Vino and Amici.

"The restaurant is a new start and has a young team. The wine is special too, we

don´t have Chianti, we don´t have Antinori, we have specialty wines from around Italy that most people haven´t heard about. The sommelier is from Calabria and he chooses which wines we show in the restaurant. It is challenging for us and fun for us to try new recipes and all that we give to the guests is from my ideas and Andreas ideas. It is important that the restaurant is ours." says the proud Davide.  "You know life is always a risk yet it is worth it."

Meet Udo, "Frankfurt was for almost 26 years where I worked on the stock exchange and now since the last 6 months I´ve opened my own totally cool highest quality Seidl Chocolates in Regensburg. The owner is a friend of mine and has been making these great chocolates the last 25 years. His store in  Laaber has been here for 25 years and has a big elephant that moves and greets the guests in the showroom...it has a big cave and people can walk into the gummy bear cave and buy just about any kind of gummy bears they want..." says the affable owner. "Each chocolate is HANDMADE remember that...and they for instance have the easter bunny and each little chocolate with it is handpicked with care." he says...I just want to eat it!

Is the Chocolate good? I ask. "IF Lufthansa airlines hadn´t used the chocolate for its first class guests every year the last 25 years I could say that the chocolate isn´t good...however they choose us, Sheraton and Hilton around the world choose us, and the 7Star Hotel in Dubai chose us to present a Mosque Chocolate to the guests in the hotel rooms...if a 7star chooses you you know that your´re good." he says,. I say that if the Dubai Burj Al Arab 7Star chose them they know their the best.  For instance the picture to the right is the 2bedroom suite at the Buri Al Arab..."honey can I have some of the chocolates please!"

The Whiskey Brother´s in Regensburg has been here since a little month before Christmas...it is run and passionately owned by two brothers, Jonas and Andreas. They LOVE Whiskey and Andreas worked in Japan and Scotland to name a few countries where his love of the Whiskey Distilleries grew. "We thought it fun to open one here. It has been much successful and the best is the Whiskey tastes that we do. You must reserve to come and whether you are taste tests normal whiskeys or Exotic ones the price is from 65Es to 95Es...The people love it. We occaisionally drink whiskey ourselves...maybe one time per week. At home? We drink Orange Juice and cola!" Jonas says.

Outside at night in the beauty of the hillside where guests sit and laugh and have traditional Bavarian food, "In the winter they can sit in one of our many rooms and eat a big Bavarian meal and the theater is Friday and Saturdays every weekend...yes including the Christmas Markets!" says Thomas. I love love love that theater. When I ask if he could do weddings in the Keller Thomas laughs, "We would need emergency exits and have to make it safe...right now the memory of the way they brought in the ice blocks from the river and the way that they would keep the beer cold all year long with it stored in the keller is enough!" he says. Although his brother would love to renovate it.!      Alte Nürnberger Strasse 12

Spital is a Brewery that is native to Regensburg and has the beer gardens that you´re probably aware of near the Stone Bridge but the real hidden jewel is the SpitalKeller...named from the huge Cellar that is really a big cave with a train trolley that used to take the big kegs of beer and wheel in the long long caverns(even i got spooked!)  to underneath the Spital Restaurant of about 5 rooms, plus a totally cool theater and a huge beer garden of its own on the hills way beyound the Stone Bridge. See the pictures above? "In the summer we can have as many as 1,000 people a night in the beer garden" says Stefan, one of the brothers that owns the restaurant... "Actually I am a twin..my brother is Thomas..." he says and introduces me to his brother who besides the blonde hair is identical.
cross the lock bridge, take a left, cross the next bridge, cross the next bridge and on the right hand side walk about 50 meters...
Spitalkeller
Set on the side of the hill it is a little hike to make it up to the gardens yet when you enter you are surrounded with privacy and plain fun. http://www.spitalkeller.com/  click on the website to reserve dinner and theater from january to April. How cool is that!
"here let me show you the Keller..." says Stefan and we take a miner´s! torch with us as we explore the caverns..."We checked into making it a theater and dinner and events room, you know for weddings and parties, but the cost is 1million euros to renovate it!" he says...trust me it would be worth it! Totally cool yet you can have a great private dinner of fun since it has been 3 years I knew Regensburg Existed and the first time I ever knew the Keller was there!
And I tried the food it is very very yummy.
The twins...young and fun and cooks! "Yes we both cook. We do the traditional Bavarian...you know it is the traditional Regensburg beer gardens and most of the people are German. We would love tourists if they could find us!" Stefan says.

Come meet the wonderful Team of Spital Breweries and especially the new young owners of the beer garden, Conny and Tony. "We came on the team on board in January. My family owns a restaurant and beer garden (we had Bischofshof´s beer there sh...) " Tony says. "Here my wife loves the Chocolate Stout and me? the pale ale. Now since the Chocolate Stout is a winter specialy beer, we´re ready for the Pale ale...You are welcome to try it..." he says. ME'? OF COURSE I WANT TO TRY THE CHOCOLATE!

"You know you ask  me if since I am a Regensburger if owning the oldest Brewery in Regensburg´s Beer Gardens, the Spital, here since 1226AD"! if it is a Dream come true...follow  me..." says the young Tony, Anton in German. My German assistant giggles and says "I think he wants to show us something." and we follow him to the openness of the beer garden looking at the bridge. "Here is amazing...look at the view. Can you imagine owning such a place?" he says with the help of my German Assistant. Wow!" The best view and beer garden in the famous Regensburg. And 800 people in the summer! "Yes we´re starting to think about hiring people for the summer months starting in May. You know now we  have a small staff and the people that cook the food have been here  a long while. However for the next couple of months we have to start hiring people to come in May. Am I worried about so many people drinking all my beer? Yes it is super busy yet it should be fun!" he says.

I first meet the Public Relations Archives person, Ms. Kaser, then her great assistant who is officially my Regensburger Google Translator who guided me to the Brewery where we met the Brew Meister Mr. Loesch, "I am 28 and I´ve been doing the brewing since I have been 13 years old!" he says. "Here is where I brew the beer and the upstairs is real old...since the 1226 it has been here. We have CO2 filters and windows open though because of air poisioning...you have to be careful..." he says as he shows us around...it is pretty cool and while the normal folk don´t usually tour upstairs you can sit in the beer gardens and see the brew masters at work in the big windows...cool.and Finally to the great young team that owns the famous "800 people capability beer garden!" on the famous river.

To the left side is the famous Chistmas Mercatos where the people gather at the famous Spital Beer Gardens and above in the summer. "We are modern and have our pictures to greet the guests ont he menu and the facebooks...we´re hiring young people to work with us...it should be a great new start and many years of young people loving the Spital!" he says.

Among the 1,000 books that the brother's have in their possession and of course the ones that they can find for you around the world here is the prayer book of Lorenzo Medici which personally I find pretty cool. I mean the Medici family is not only Medieval they're evil!

Christian and his brother Georg located at the Medieval town of Regensburg Germany are perfect experts in the rare book collection of Medieval Manuscripts...take for instance the Dead Sea Scrolls next door! "Of course the real ones are in the museum in Jerusalem and honestly priceless... the facsimiles that we have which is one from the 1st Century has every page replicated right down to the cuts on the pages and the holes in the pages. That is why it is such a treasure. And it is kept in a replica clay pot that they originally found the scrolls in." he says.

"We perceive ourselves as "carer" for your questions, wishes and ideas. We put high value on the dialogue with our customers, be it at your home, in your library or here in the Jakobstraße in Regensburg. It is the "Book adventure on site" that is important to us."We keep our promises"

Guido de Columnis: Der Trojanische Krieg - Schlacht um Troja

The Book of Kells above is Christian´s favorite book...he has himself one reprint and the original is in the Museum in Dublin!

"The Book of Biblia de los Cruzados is my brother´s favorite", says Christian as his brother and wife run in and out saying don´t come near we have the flu! "They have the flu a lot!" he says, "With little children in school they always have something!" I ask him why do people want to buy reprints of the original manuscripts? "Simply because the originals are priceless...they don´t have prices on these and seriously 99.99% are protected in museums...and the only way to see and hold the originals is with perfect reproductions...otherwise they become damaged." he says....

When I asked who buys 60,000.00 euros replicas of religious original manuscripts? Christian says, " O a lot of people buy these. " Just millionaires? Billionaires? "The billionaires buy the originals!" he laughs. "Yet last year a billionaire bought a important manuscript for millions and millions of euros and for his wedding party he bought everybody replicas that we had made for him...yet each replica can cost in the 100,000.00Euros..." Alright now we now what a billionaire buys for his grooms men as gifts...although I bet they would rather have flasks with expensive whiskey in em.

"Here is the Brewing Company giving a taste of its beer...we have the actual brewmaster´s come and talk about their beer and invite everybody in to try. The students love it, the tourists love it, the Regensburger´s love it. When I went to America about 4 years ago, my wife and I went to Philadelphia, New York, Cape Cod, Boston, Washington D.C. etc and we tried the different beer and one person said to me that you know when you are in Germany it is difficult to try foreign beers. And I thought that is true. When I came back I went to the Wunder Bar down the alley and talked to the then owner Goose. We said alright lets try a Craft Beer Festival. 2 years ago we started our first Craft Beer Festival and last year opened the first Beer Store here. My advertising agency partner, Martin, and I said alright lets open the beer store, theonly one in Regensburg and see how it is..." says Thomas pictured sitting around the table with 3 people.

Posthorngässchen 2 / Goldene Bären Str.  Regensburg, Germany 094 1630885 40  is where you can walk in and buy one of 300 beers..."I´ve tried about 80% of em," says the owner, "of course one must taste the product in order to talk knowledgeable about it!" he jokes!

"The beer festival is in Regensburg in the center on May 4, 5 and 6. Last year we had 17 brewing companies and 10,000people! We all ran out of beer the last day! Seriously! Now we have 24 brewing companies coming and I hope 20,000 people. The only one of its kind that I know of in Bavaria. Yet the best is that when they come to the festival they all say O where can we buy that craft beer in Regensburg...and of course the only place is here!" he says with a totally big smile on his face:)"One of the people who works in the store is a 5 year Brew Master and one is a Biology student...we have a great team to make our own brand Birretta Beer in the future. Of course it is something that I thought of doing yet it is expensive...let´s see how it is doing...in the meantime! WE do drink much more beer now than when we didn´t own the Craft Beer Store, that I am honest about!" he says laughing.

When I visit the advertising agency down the alley from the Beer store his assistant Kristen is moving signs for the festival around the office! Does he give her beer? "No only the bosses drink the beer in here they make us work!" she says.

"Since me and my partner, Martin, the other two partners of the Birretta are another Martin and his wife Caroline, own a University of Regensburg Advertising Agency we let the students know we are here and we try to educate these students on the different types of brewing processes. It is about taste and flavor and hops and strength and the entire package. We hope they come in here and learn about trying something new. Life is about trying something that you don´t think you will like to try. Our motto is just try it you might like it!" says Thomas.

Regensburg, home to the famous Thurn und Taxis family of such nobility that they were the Post Office system of the Roman Empire...Prince Albert 12th´s title today is Post Master General...now that is a cool title! The most significant historical achievement of the Thurn und Taxis family is the organization of the imperial postal system of the Roman Empire and in 1615 all hereditary rights to the male heir of the Thurn und Taxis, which as of today is Albert.

                                            at Hinter der Grieb 10, 094 15 5050

I could do with a scotch right now honestly...the Mood Bar in Regensburg makes me want to drink one! The owner is hilariously nice and friendly. Khanh is from Viet Nam, "O can you interview my head bartending my English is bad," he says (he is pictured in the baseball cap)and bounces upstairs and downstairs in the cozy Mood Bar that he has had the last 7 years.
When I interview the bartending staff the head bartender says, "O don´t call me the head bartender since I´ve only been here almost 2 years. Another fellow has been here 5. And let´s see the reason I have fun at the bar is Khanh who is a great boss. He sits down with us and seriously cares about our opinions and he always catches time for us. We go out to the clubs together after Mood closes and it´s like a family. We have fun with each other." And when Khanh hears that he smiles. A great fun team.
The Undercover Friendly Bouncers at the Mood. "It is the Mood of the people...if you´re nice and friendly and you´re dressed nice and you´re not drunk too much we let you in." It´s the mood! "About maybe 99% of the people you can talk to nicely and reason with em, " the bouncers say. I ask if it is the other 1% that you need big muscles? And they just laugh. "If you look like you want to have fun we let you in!"
Here is the friendly Mood team out having fun with each other...I wonder if they´re ever in a BAD? Mood? I seriously doubt it!

Looks like they had fun...!

094 19308 1525

                     https://www.facebook.com/undAmici/

              Book adventure on site

Like Night and Day is the two restaurants that Martin owns. He who "used to work in the banking system...until two to three years now I said alright I would love to open my own restaurant and start cooking! It is the first time I ever cooked! I LOVE IT. I cook great Bavarian traditional food here of course, yet in my new restaurant which is behind the Zum Goldenen Fass through the beer garden is the WILDERER´S and it is WILD and CRAZY and FUN!" says the young enthusiastic yet very serious owner.

"I am a huge believer in Facebook. I use it all the time to promote the restaurants. When the people started booking events and parties in the Wilderer they booked from Facebook. Last night we had the Women´s Day Equality Party with a live band celebrating the equal pay of men and women in Germany. Tonight a retiring party! It is a upperclass chic restaurant that is perfect for private functions...and I get to be creative and show off my cooking techniques!" he laughs and says he has to run! He is a very busy person with the running of two totally different restaurants and two totally differnt kitchens. "I love his food," says the bartender. "We of course as students can´t really afford the prime rib but we eat just about all the other food and it is really good." I say I love the french fries and both the bartender and Martin scoff at me. French fries! they say. Yes yet they´re really good french fries..."That is because we peel the potatoes here...they aren´t frozen...you know we have high quality in the restaurant." he says!

aq_block_4

Above the upper class restaurant WILDERER´S..."I love to try new things and to organize at first doing two restaurants that are totally different from each other in the same kitchen was a challenge yet now the routine is down and we are in a little bit of a thought of now that it is summer how do we combine the beer garden between the two...is it the Zum Goldenen´s beer garden or the Wilderer´s garden and I thought that maybe let the two meet each other! We cook on the smokers outside and they can share beers with each other...both of course Augustiner since they own the building and since it is a great beer!"

Sitting at the bar at Zum Goldenen you will meet real cool Germans...one named Raineeer Thuroff is from the eastern Block of Germany during the Soviet Occupation of the 70s...he says with tthe help of the bartender translating that he tried to escape and tthe soldiers caught him as he was climbing the wall and he served 2 years in the East Germany Communist Prison with 12 others. That when the wall went down it was a mistake of the government who said that everybody is allowed to travel from tthat day on yet they were supposed to check ids and see who was traveling where. There were so many people zooming to the other side to Germany that they just let everybody in! It was a wild and real story and we spent 1hr hearing it and eating his ccake!

When I ask Martin which restaurant is more fun for him he says, "They are both very important to me. Each one. At first it is a big risk to open the second restaurant that is connected through the beer garden. It is a totally new concept in Regensburg. You know the other is a high-end meat restaurant with Filets, Rib-Eyes, New York Strip Steaks and I cook these in a indoor Manhatten style Beefer. The grill types here is with Smokers technique. I cook the Prime Rib for 12 hrs and the Pulled Pork for 9 hrs. It is very tender and it is unique to Regensburg and to all around Bavaria. That is why people love it. I own three Smokers and it is a unique technique to most people. Yes it is more expensive than the typical Bavarian Restaurant here. People can come in here as a couple and with a nice bottle of wine spend 80to100Euros on the dinner. Steaks and Fish and Spare Ribs are more expensive than a bratwurst! "

"It is the first time in my life when I say that my work is fun." Barbara says. "Thelema winery has a lot of Eucalyptus trees growing up the lane when you approach and these gave a mint taste to the wine. The last year was 2014 and now they planted new seeds. They must have 7 years to see the new wine whether it shall taste the same...it is my husband's favorite and he says that he loves the mint taste."

                            Remhoogte Bushvine Pinotage 2013
As Barbara was letting me taste the wine a American couple came in from San Diego off the VikingCruise. They asked to taste the Pinotage and Barbara opened a new bottle(which they bought) and insisted I try it with the couple! Yum Delicious they left then me and Barbara tasted a couple more! I will say, that they're some of the best I've ever tasted:) And if you can't afford the time to visit Thelema in South Africa! Do the better idea and come to Regensburg to purchase great wines:)         "Hinter der Grieb 2"
"I have 6 family owned vineyards from South Africa that I carry in my store. Only 6. The reason is I thought to find wines of such good quality with small vineyards and to introduce these to Europe. A couple of my vineyards have signed exclusively with me for the entire Germany." Says Barbara the owner of  "Cape Grape" the  South Africa wine store in Regensburg.      Here she is pictured with her husband who says that if her business does real good he would love to join her. Now the head of a German Based company where he is  the Director of the German and the South Arfrica entity."We moved to near Capetown. All of our stuff about 1/2 of it into a lovely Victorian cottage and my son who is 6 is enrolled into the German school. I even found a job. Then my husband's company said we need you in Germany and we had to move it all back to Germany." She says as to why a South African! wine store? "I love South Africa. My husband and I went there many times. I thought how can I keep the culture of that region and at the same time move back here? I simply love good South African wine... The people of Regensburg are totally receptive to it and the community of CapeTown moving to Germany and Regensburg is growing." She receives a phone call and I hear a little voice on the phone. "That is Constantine. He is 6 and every night he asks me to tell him a wine story. He wants to know the wine business. His recent story is Honey Bunch." she says and asks if I would love to try that wine. Yes of course I say and yum its tastes like honey!

Andreas owns Wurstkuchl and he says, "Yes I love the tourists but I wish we had less in the summer and more in winter... They come on the boats especially the Americans and they love to see the city. They always buy the mustard and take it home."
Summer at Wurstkuchl...and the quaint little 500 year old house above...at 10:00am...

Inside the little stone kitchen is plaques where the water has risen over the years in addition to some of the cool pictures..."That one is my grandmother's mother," says Andreas as he shows me around the little seating area. "And o that is Heidi from the famous German Artist Regine Herzog," as I notice the funny sculpture that greets you as you walk into the main restaurant which is decorated entirely in white and fawn with a cool white bench hosting 3 baskets,  The other is a friend that I found online and he is an artist from Bavaria. He paints satirical religious art and a bohemian art style. They poke fun at the catholic church...not that priests aren´t human it is just hypocritical the portraits. I try to show the world who I am and I don´t like to cover myself generally as a rule." When you meet him it is true that he has a great outlook on the world and a wonderful sense of humor. Lovely to meet. Stay and try the sausages of real regensburg. I am totally fat now.

Come eat great sausages in the Bavarian tradition since 1316 and say hi to Andreas the charming owner0941) 466 21-0,  Thundorferstr. 3, "Every year the last 3 years I traveled to San Francisco to the fancy food show. We see the Italians have fancy booths and the french and the spanish but the Germans have this little box booth. It is funny since the Germans are all prim and proper. I give free mustard away at my booth but people complain because there was one booth a chocolate booth and they only had pictures... they should of had real things to show such as the mustard. Not chcolate? Only pictures. But the Americans enjoy the mustard and I bring it each year. I can only stay 3 or 4 days.  They have my mustard on the www.mygermancandy.com online and somewhere in San Francisco but I don´t know where. You can order my sausages and sauerkraut online and I ship it to America or whereever. It is in tins though so it is not so good." Says Andrea as he asks if I would love to taste the food at the famous Bavarian kitchen. Of course I say and they have great homemade cheesecake too. Yum.

As winner of the GUINNESS IRISH PUB OF THE YEAR
Michael is Irish, which is refreshing when you enter a Irish bar that the person is actually authentically Irish..."My wife is Ljida is Canadian and I am Irish and our two children are a little of both and German." Michael is energetic and nice. "For fun? Me? Let´s see I work all the time and the Irish bar is fun of course but for fun we look in the Backyard. We do cycling and canoeing on the Regen and swimming with the kids. That´s fun. We enjoy Regensburg."

People come here because of the Guiness and the Sports Televisions. A Irish Bar guest is a Irish Bar guest. They always find you." Michael admits.  "And the students, of course. They love the fun atmosphere and the casualness of the bar."

Although inviting a friend to the Theater and drinking some great wine seemed to be maybe the highlights of the Theater Ballet Dance on June 30 at 7:30 I was outweighed with the fact that perhaps in all of my life I saw the most awesome otherworldly show of the highly talented ballet dancers that night. It was awesome simply awesome...the dancers were the best I have ever seen.

Alright I must say that the little girl pictured below to the right looks very bad doesn´t she? You will be pleased to know that she has grown up to be quite the nicest person. Her name is Debora De Pellegrin and her husband´s name is Mauro. They own the new opened one year in June Aamu. "Aamu is a combination of our children´s names...one is Aaron and the other is Murelia. When we moved back to Regensburg after being away about 8 years we knew that the cafe is going to be the biggest project of our lives. And since our children are the biggest projects of our lives, "she laughs when she says that, "we said alright let´s name the cafe with our children´s names." And the little play area for children? "My son made the paintings that are hanging on the clothesline" she admits yet there is tons of colors and a little table for the little tykes. "Yes here is a play area for children. That is important to know, too."

Think Woodstock and find "what we would really like to do at the Rock and Roll bar, " says the always smiling manager who looks like a cross between Jason Priestly and Justin Timberlake. "We just found the cool guitars and had the owner´s sign it and the cool rock and roll pictures and built the bar around it. It is a little Hard Rock yet original private owners. I hope MIck Jagger and the great ones visit the bar and bring some instruments for us to add to the wall...now that would be cool." he says...or try open mic! night:)https://www.facebook.com/pages/Jag-deine-Eltern-nicht-vom-Hof/791241837621614?fref=ts

The bar is elegant and already has tons of guests as you can see! Yet it is definitely themed for rock and roll and has a cool young team of real rock and rollers..."We have the apartments upstairs which was a problem with noise for the Black Banana and Orange bar before. Now only people that love rock and roll can have the apartment upstairs...That is in the fine print...must love rock and roll." he laughs when he says that. "Really the team here should rent the apartment since they could hear great music even when they´re    not working..." he says.

Sebastian says, "We have the two Munich gyms, the one here in Regensburg which is big , Frankfurt and we're open to letting the United States partner with us if they would love to learn more about the indoor sport and the philosophy of the Germany routes and designs. It is about partnering. The Seattle Bouldering just went up with the help of a famous French router who designed the holdings. Now maybe as you said, Chicago, San Diego, Denver, New York, Dallas, San Francisco if we could find partners that would help us to introduce bouldering to America."

It´s totally crazy in here at birthday parties. They´re so excited and they have about 1-1/2 hrs of climbing. As early as say 5 years old." says Sebastian one of the owners of the Climbing Center. He demonstrates the little kids climbing techniques!"The newest additions the last 15 days is upstairs with the all family and kids climbing. It is especially a place of a couple of rooms where the kids can climb and yell and have fun and show the moms and dads their skills. They can show off essentially."http://www.boulderwelt-frankfurt.de/
University students will love the place. For 8.90E they can climb all day! And it is open til 11pm every night. Although they do have alcohol at the cafe/bar and the height is max 4 meters please drink after the climb!http://www.boulderwelt-muenchen-ost.de/kontakt-anfahrt.html

Sebastian says, "We made the first one in 2012 and it is the biggest in the world. We modeled the climbing system from the Fountain Bleu region in France that color coded the wall grades. Everybody else in the world had used the international system of numbers and we do colors."
He says,"It is cool becasue my girlfriend who started climbing only one year is a yellow climber which is the easy ones and I do the most difficult yet since the colors are right near one another we can climb together and both be challenged." I asked him if it is similiar to riding steeplechase horses and one jumps little jumps and one jumps high jumps?
And of course for the real tired climbers you can buy cocaine at 5.50E   too from China! Just kidding...it is a funny powder to help sweaty climbers climb!
Right next to the Langnese Ice Cream!

Sebastian laughs, "Yes my girlfriend rides the horses and when she asks me to ride with her I am sitting on top of that big horse and I just sit there froze! Horses are big! And she says just make it go and I say Make it GO! How am I supposed to do that?" It is funny to imagine that Sebastian scales mountains and yet he says that riding a horse is big! And here is a little one watching his mom climb the easy ones.

The young owner of Liston the most popular Greek modern restaurant in Regensburg is only 31...all business with a totally dry sense of humor...maybe...or maybe that is"Socrates" my cousines name is Socrates...." ask him anything.HappyHour 300x120 (Dinner)

Here is the young owner with the special presentation plate of Greek food...yum that is lovely.
"All of the wine is from Greece and the leaves are imported from Greece, Michalis has fresh ingredients imported. " Michalis introduced me to his cousin Socrates who is all ladys man... "I love the older woman..." he says when I ask Michalis to tell me the smartest thing that Socrates has ever said.... "The real Socrates or this one'?" he asks seriously... and when I make Socrates tell me he says, "The older women are better...no no no don't write that....I just mean that the young girls you know the 18 year olds they' re not that exciting..." Socrates Socrates Socrates! http://www.liston-regensburg.de/de/http://www.liston-regensburg.de/de/
"Try some Corfu food..that is all that we do...it is all from Corfu..." Michalis says as they give me traditional food from that beautiful city. "You know you should go to that island. My grandmother and grandfather have a little bed and breakfast you should stay at." and when I say that to call his Granfmother and tell her that I am coming to stay in 10 days he says..." Ah um...I guess I could do that..." and here we come... Pfauengasse 3
The Elegance of the Bavarian Dirndl at MOSER DIRNDLS REGENSBURG
                    http://www.trachtenshop24.de/
"The world and especially Americans think that the entire Germany is Dirndls and Ledenhosens. In Fact it is only Bavaria. Of course if somebody from New York wants to buy ledenhosens they simply go onto the website and we ship the ledenhosens to them.                          Anywhere in the world.                        We have a lot of people that order from us." Christian says.
When I met Mr. Wirkes(to the left) I asked if he is Mr. Dirndl(innocently) and he laughed and spoke German to his fun PR person Christian Popps. "Meet Mr. Wirkes, he owns Moser Dirndls" is the introduction. Then Christian and me had fun seeing every dirndl and ledenhosen in the warehouse. Totally cool and fun.
With 31 plus locations around Bavaria I am 100% sure you can find one you love. And Mr. Obama bought his first Ledenhosen on Sunday when he came to Bavaria and met Angela Merkle...how cool is that?!
At the Misses and Mister Bayern Competiton, the Germans do know how to have fun! The Outfits come from Moser's and they have new stlyes every year. "We have these full length pants and to be honest I prefer the shorter ones." Christian says as we peruse the warehouse. The Houston Texas Cowboys would love love those brushed leather ledenhosens I tell Christian. "Maybe we have a store in Houston!" he says.

"The meat is the best in the world, American Prime USDA, Australia, Pork from Spain, Lamb from Ireland. We use farmers that care about the animals and are fair trade and organic. Of course when we talk to the Australians they say we don't certify organic in Australia. The cows have been in the fields since 100 years or more. They eat on the same fields for over a century. And the entire fields for 100 cows is about the size of Regensburg."" We're pretty sure that the meat is the best in the world." I laugh and say that that sounds like Australia! "You know that is all they do in Australia...it is a huge empty country so they grow great meat." says Manuel. He has a dry sense of humor!  Telefon:  +49 941 600 99 600   Greflingerstraße 53

When people ask how I choose the words to do the articles I say that I write the way people feel. The people at "Howdy" not really "Howdy" but that is what it says on the windows are young and fun and ambitious. Manuel is 33, "I thought of the idea about 1 year ago then I approached the owner of Kreutzer's restaurant in Regensburg. He has tons of experience in the industry and I visited his restaurant about 2 times per week all the time. I loved his steaks. I asked if he would like to do a partnership with me in delivering the best quality steaks all around Germany. Fresh and available the next day. He said yes."  and the company has been in existence since 7 months now.

And the deal with the grills? "Order in the membership program one year and receive a grill free. The bigger the membership the bigger the grill...that easy." Wow 60E per month and receive a free grill. How much do you spend on meat at the supermercatos every month'? Think.

                   http://kreutzers.eu/

"From the online store people everywhere in Germany and into Austria can order meat today and it is delivered tomorrow." says Manuel. The meat is fresh, never frozen.

And the deal with the wine? "We are partners, the three of us, and the wine guy is Nicolas Stark. He has 25 years experience in wine. We thought it cool to carry our own wine and we named it               Mrs. White and Mr. Red. Now at the restaurant Kreutzer's the best selling wine is ours! That is pretty cool." I say that I would buy the wine because of the cool labels and that they should do the Mr. and Ms. Bayern competition of Bavaria! They could sponsor the competition with the wine! How fun is that!

The three funny owners of the online Kreutzers meats. Manuel, Nicolas,  Matthias Kreutzer.

"We have our own sauces for marinating too, make sure you add that and spices too. It is a total company and our goal?  Everybody knows us."

Hey where is that cool package from? O I know I ordered meat from Regensburg! Here it is:)

How does one owner start from absolutely nothing and graduate to owning the 3 coolest clubs and the best little cultural cafe named Lola in Regensburg?  It took me 1-1/2 years to track the elusive party guy down however I found him and interviewed him Wed night. "I bought the Pony 8 years now...I am proud to say that I earned it all on my own. I ask only me to do it not my parents. It is easy since the owner gave it to me for little and I made it a successful club on my own. The reason that it is successful is because of my staff and I hope me...they're a fun honest team and the guests love em." says Markos...

As I talk to the owner the guests play fun drinking games on the tables...the music is loud and the people remind me of fraternity parties in America "Hey" they laugh and yell at each other..."Yes it is a club that is happening about 11pm here they come in now and just start to pary...but the Sud Club...that is the loud music. Much louder than here. When I make a profit here after a couple of years I went to the Sud club and tell the owner I want to buy the Sud club!"

 http://www.sudclub.de/

"And at the Sud Club which is on two floors the top floor is more R&B music, I say to the owner can I buy the Sud club and he says no! but you can do what you can to 1/2 of it and see what happens and after awhile the Sud club starts to make a profit and everybody comes to the Sud Club." After talking to him a little while I say that he reminds me of the owners of studio              54 in New York...every night they threw parties at the Club. They didn't have a Club you could go dancing to they threw parties you could attend and every night they're the host and the reason it received worldwide acclaim is the owners. The owner of the pony and the sud and lola and now the new one is charming and friendly and that is why I see that it is successful.

 http://www.cafe-lola.de/

"Lola is a cafe and a little bar and a Asian food  and soul food...it has a little of it all...German, Brunch, Breakfast and it is open til 1am" so if you want to hang out in a cool tiny lounge and sip cocktails talking to friends it is a quiet hidden in an alley type of place...and of course from here everybody can say "I don't know does anyone want to go clubbing...let's have another glass of wine and talk about it...and at closing time! okay let's mosey on down to the Sud or Ernstl..." and the owner says...at my clubs about 2,000 guests come and if 10% keep the party going that is enough to party at Ernstl til 5am.

The only Club in Regensburg opened til 5Am with new music all Techno from Berlin!                          http://my-we.de/de/veranstaltungen-partys/ernstl-grand-opening

     Ernstl

Since the Grand Opening of Ernstl, where Mint used to be, is on Saturday the logo and all is a work in progress...yet when you see the dacshund you know you're close!

Of all the winter sports I´ve always thought snowboarding is the coolest and the one I would love to learn. When the pros go flipping up in the air and they swoosh through the powder it seems like so much fun. Meet the owners of the Adrenalin in Regensburg. The father Gosi and daughter 26, and son team all run the snowboard school and stores. The snowboard school is located in the Bavarian Forest and has 20 instructors! Cool. 24 to 25 years at the big store and he opened his first store 30 years ago.

                  Check out of the goggles:)

"You can come at 8am on Saturday and Sunday and we take a bus with people to the snowboarding school. It is a 2 day lesson and it is about 50Euros. That is it! It is really inexpensive. The snowboards and equipment all day to rent is only 23Euros and Maybe it is too cheap. We should make it more!" she says."Every Saturday and Sunday you can come and snowboard and do the lessons or snowboard down the mountains. It is up to you."  Pictured below the snowboarders having fun. "You can learn to snowboard in one day,"she says. Her father says, "Yes it is easier to learn to snowboarding yet it is harder to master the snowboard once you learn it."

Gosi says, "It is my life. Snowboarding. I had the store a little one before my daughter Anja was born! It is my love. My hobby. I do it for fun." And when I ask his daughter to translate and ask her father the coolest thing about being the boss? He says, "A Holiday." really! All the snowboarders say they would love to work at the store it is so cool! "my brother goes every weekend to Austria and his favorite place to snowboard is Alpbachtal!" and her favorite?"I love to do powder and I´ve been to Norway already which is cool. My    father´s favorite is Kashmir In India. He and my brother do the Fun Parks while I do the powder. That is more fun for me. Since I am born I´ve been snowboarding it seems." she says.

Nadine says, "If somebody comes in and asks if I can help find a handpicked wine I can of course.  I know the winerys that select these grapes for there and these grapes for there and they´re different you know? I have tasted every wine in the store. You have to. You need to know each one. I now have people that come in and bring cheese and bread and buy a bottle of wine and sit and chat. Soon I am having my own vegatables and cheese and at that point I ask if they can eat my food! and a bottle of wine and sit and chat!"
Under the auspices of Italian Restaurants Ciao and the famous Spital Brewery on one side of the Stone Bridge is a little eclectic New York City Village wine boutique. Nadine says, "It is my little store and I am totally happz with it. I worked at the Orphee in the Restaurant and a import wine business a couple of years and finally bought the one here. And yes it is fun to buy wines and to let the customers taste them and see if they enjoy these or not."

Caroline comes from Austria, "From Salzburg actually, " she says in her wonderful voice, "most of the products come from Austria whether Innsbruck or northern Austria. The chocolates come from Tiroler."  I try the chocolates and they´re very good. Yum . "I started cooking here about 3 years now. Everyday it is a main dish and soup and everyday it´s different. I make all of my lunches homemade. And of course the apple strudel."
Seriously is that a cool kitchen or what!

It is as  American´s picture the country of Austria....(yes we´re that country of stereotypes) we imagine the funky chalet authentic kitchens of Austria to look like. It is all homey and woodsy and is that country feeling to it. I love the homemade packaged little pestos and the real kitchen to the left where you can see the owner, Caroline, cooking every lunch. "Yes it is almost a real Austrian kitchen. In Austria the kitchen would have more wood in it but here I must use it for praticality and it is a little more modern." When I excitedly ask if I can take a picture of the kitchen and if it is a real one?  Since I love Witches her store´s name  translates to Witchcraft! "We have oils and wines and even soaps...milk soaps from upper austria. And yes that is GIN! What is that little berry that it is made from?" She asks ME! Do I look like I drink Gin? As a matter of fact...yes I do and hmm the berry? I need to Google it.

                            http://www.laufundberg.de/

The coolest store is the hiking, trekking, touring, climbing sports store at Regensburg which works with the Climbing Wall Sports Centers to help people learn how to climb...and they have the coolest backpack that inflates to a huge protective balloon around you in case of avalanches when you climb!  O hey anybody wanna take a hike today?

The young man to the left is Jens. He has two adorable children one of who tried to climb the climbing wall in the store, "O they all love to climb. We work with the Boulder Climbing Center in Regensburg and they send people here all the time to get outfitted with gear. The total including the rope and clothiing and shoes is about 150Euros which makes it a fun cool sport that is totally cheap to do. It is really fun." he says. Here he is hidden behind the glasses! "I don´t know why but they always hide me in the pictures" he says!

The Mammut Inflatable Airbag shown here at the Mammut Store and the video below. The store is funky and Peter runs the store "Yes I own inflatable backpack...I am a little bit of a risk taker and tried it one time. If you go out alone skiing down a mountain you can forget the backpack. If you get buried it is impossible to get out without friends. But the chances of surviving are 95% with the backpack on. That is great odds." He says. At a whopping $650Euros it had better help me survive!
And for these people that would love to use the equipment to climb the mountains, they can practice at Geweerbepark´s Boulderwelt where from the age of 5 to 95 you too can learn to climb!

Unter den Schwibbögen 1 Here is the coolest bags ever in the store LaVieEstBelle located in 'Regensburg. The bags of course real leather and strong quality. Expensive? A little yet lasts forever cool. I dressed the mannequin to the right and 'Andy(along with wife Barbara) owns the store. "It´s been only 4 months yet I know that is a little wild for Regensburg, " he says as he sees the colorful display. Yes I know I say yet the girls at the clubs in New York, London and in Miami would wear that...and since they all come to University here...? "Okay," he says, "let me call my wife and I can send her the picture and she´ll probably call me right away and say...O my gosh that is too wild for us!"   Yet it stayed...I hope the girls buy that mannequin.:)https://www.facebook.com/lavieestbelle.regens…/photos_stream
https://www.facebook.com/barbara.chicandmore?pnref=lhc
"My wife Barbara has a store that we´ve had 5 years in Donaustauf and you must really go there. It is a great store. When we travel we always meet the people that we carry in the store face to face the first time and from that point on we can do the online purchasing. Yet I want to meet the people first. It is funny though since now I run the store in Regensburg we disagree on things. I´ll say I want that in my store and she´ll say O my gosh THAT! or she´ll say I want this and I´ll say THIS! and it is funny because we´re different.!"

Michaela pictured above owns the cool Ludwigreen3... an environmentally correct shopping experience that only carries organic products from the "earth" as I love to dub these fair trade concept stores. When I ask Michaela if she knows the "Green Sheikh" of http://www.greensheikh.com/ Ajman one of the emirates...who received his name because of the ecological work he does. She says that yes she has heard of him.  Michaela has probably heard of every environmentally concious person around. Take a walk around her store and you´ll see why. Below Love Teas the best loose leaf teas around and My Muesli you know that Granola stuff?
If you want to drink and eat healthy you can do that too in the store! And her cosmetics are either vegan and/or vegetarian friendly.
"I started the store about 5 years now. My clothes have no harmful how does someone say that is biological safe colors?" she charmingly asks and I say that is called dye in English...? "Yes" she says, "the colors in the clothes are safe and all of the products that we carry including the makeup is free of any and all animal testing. We don´t promote animal testing." She says. Being a person that has almost 11 dogs(give and take a couple) and 5 cats? "in the summer it is more cats" she laughingly admits. She and trys to find everyday homes for dogs and cats and she is personally aware of any and all testing. Here is her personal email in addition to visiting her store if you would love to adopt       micha@ludwig3.de
And the coolest? Okay yes expensive however the frietag bags about 380E each are unique and exclusive one of a kind made and a lesson to me...frietag is made from truck panels! Um okay... two brothers! started the company 15 years ago. And now? cool...
ttp://www.paramentum.de/index.php  The store is Gorgeous store. Benedict Wunschel is the owner of the religious store and has owned it 2-1/2 years. He is funny. "Are priests always nice? Hmm...lets see. Yeees and hmm let´s say if I have robes or casels and the older priests only want the old traditional ones and they say o that one is too modern. They want the ones they want. You know." he says diplomatically.                 I think ya they´re human."The one to the right is from the 18th century. It is very old. The person who owned it came and asked if we could take care of it. If somebody wants to come in and buy it and everything in the store that is fine."
The store has the most beautiful items in it. The goblets are amazing and range from about 300E to 6,835E. Yes each. Cool "You know if you´re friend is a priest you can come in here and buy him a gift!" he says. Yet I think...hmm maybe that goblet I can by for me instead of a priest! Wine anyone?

"You know the Vatican and Catholic church has allocated more churches to less priests. It used to have 15 priests and 15 churches yet nowadays that is changed. We have less priests that come in here. Here is my favorite, " says Benedict. "It is a handmade one that we do upstairs in the sewinng room. We do our own embroidery there." When I ask the price and it is 4,500Euros. I start laughing. Okay I say that is why the Vatican can only afford one priest for 5 churches. He laughs, "Maybe. Seriously though most, to be honest , the priests purchase the 650E Casels. However sometimes for marrying and special occaisions they purchase these. The one I have is my favorite though."
Three of the young owners above, "Can you show all of the flavors above?" They say and ask me to show the blackboards..."We work with a Chinese company and we designed our own hardware and cigarette equipment so the ones that they buy are our own and the liquids we made too." That is entrepreneurial in the works..."We plan on maybe working with a couple of nightclubs such as SUD or Ernst in the future since it is legal to smoke electronic inside but it isn´t legal to smoke cigarettes...maybe organic liquids in the future. Right now we´re so busy we can´t keep up!"
"There is me I am Tom, and Phil, Rene and Joseph, and we all started the company about 4 months now. We have our own clothing line named dampftbeidir and that is the big company and the small company under that is named  rauch FREI. We make our own vapors you know the liquids and it is all of our own creations." he says. They´re a young group of huge energy and imagination with tons of projects on the table. "We have a online store and soon people can order from the online store their own creations...say I want 15% of that and 10% of that and 5% of that and they come in and we make it in the store:" cool.  OSTENGASSE 1

Bar 13 is a drinking bar. And , "On Monday nights we´re famous because we´re the only bar in Regensburg that has Karaoke during the week the others have it maybe a couple on the week-ends. It is twice as many people in here on Monday nights. I think we have the best Karaoke since that is my specialty the last 5 years. I went all around Bavaria in the 100 mile radius and had Karaoke gigs. It is a fun group of people a different group of people that do Karaoke...that is all I can say" the affable owner says. He has had the bar 11 years now. https://www.facebook.com/Bar13.de
A new brewery just bought the building that the bar is housed in and he had a couple of unsure moments, "there was a few weeks that I didn´t know where I would be and if the bar I would be able to keep it or not. But I negotiated a long contract with the brewery and now I am secure for     10 years. That makes me happy. I had an emergency situation where I thought maybe I can go to America and Florida and become a helicopter pilot if the bar doesn´t work out. I always wanted to do that. And now I kept the bar. Maybe somewhere in the future I would love to own a bar with a location of live music. Right now we can do Karaoke and DJ yet it would be nice to own a bar with a stage." He says about the new ownership of the building that houses the bar. The brewery is named Kuchlbauer. "The beer is okay and the guests like it. In the end beer is beer. It´s  not the best beer in my opinion such as Augustiner but it´s not the worst beer. As long as they own the building I have to use the Kuchlbauer beer. And it is expensive that is the bad side to it."                                                                                                        "My guests range from say 17 to 35 and every semester I have the new college kids. They like to watch the games on the sports tvs and to play fussball and just have fun. I am getting to old to go out every night with my team though! Now I like to hang out at home on the couch with my two cats, " he says. And how do new people know about his bar? except my website of course? "Every semester I do about 3,000 little presents of key chains maybe and flyers on the bar. I hope they remember me and come and have a good time." I ask if he makes his team stay on Sunday at 10:00am and wrap all the little presents? He laughs.".I used to when we opened the bar and now I have a company help me." It´s good to be the boss!

Here is the owners of the cool bookstore. Meet Ulrich Dombrowsky who along with his wife Daniela own Dombrowsky´s Bookstore Regensburg. The store won the award for the Best Book Store in Germany in 2014...Wow seriously that is incredible.
"Yes it is the award for an overall bookstore. For Everything. The atmosphere, the book readings, the children´s sections and my new idea the we say "Teenys" section." he says as he shows me the Blues Brothers posters on the wall and a little room just for the teeanagers. "They don´t want to be children and they don´t want to read adult books. They want their own section." Mr. Dombrowsky says. It is funny the little section where the teenys can sit and chat and talk about books that they love! The first of its kind "And we have about 25 to 31 guest authors every year that come and talk about their books. I choose the authors based on what I love to read. We work every year along with 8 bookstores in Germany and Austria and Switzerland to publish our own book named plus 5 which includes the best books of the year and why we included these books." He says. That is pretty cool too...here is the website to see...
http://www.dombrolit.de/

"The bookstore is my love and my how do U say? My passion. I love books." he says. When I ask if he writes books himself he emphatically says, "ME? Write books!? Ah NO! I only sell books and I read books." The specialty of his store is children and adult fiction. And in addition to the books and the readings they have concerts and discussions here every year. It is a funny funky bookstore that has that cozy feeling to it. Hope you love it and the best is the online store if you´re out of town-buy these books!

Above the "teenys section"where Mr. Dombrowsky says "you have to know, you have to know teenys." And I guess he means that teenagers are teenagers and they want their own life... Below the children´s section of which all the little children everytime that I´ve been in the store run and grab books from! It is funny.
Below is one of the coffee roasters and to the right is the little tiny countries where they come from...in the middle is my favorite Ethiopia and it is the best coffee anywhere it almost tastes the way brewed tea tastes. http://www.rehorik.de/ is a family business. The son Heiko says, "I love to visit the tiny plantations that grow coffee...they have a richness of life which is in nature. Their plantations are sometimes in dangerous countries such as Honduras where it is unsafe to travel after 6pm. The guide told me if I wanted to come with him that is fine but after 6pm I am on my own since it is dangerous. We had a police escort behind us. The beans are the best but it is dangerous. And when I find the little plantations in say Ecuador or in Panama I try to stay with the families. They´re very nice and they drive me everywhere. They say o I want to come to university at Germany and I say o I want to come to live in Panama. I guess everybody wants something that is different than they have. Where they live it isn´t the the richness such as mansions yet it is a richness of life." Wow As you can see from the picture of a little daughter of a plantation owner pictured here with Heiko! "She is a daughter of a tiny plantation owner and the tree is a tiny tree!"
Above a fellow American from San Francisco, "Yes I love Regensburg and I am learning a lot here...in a way it is a small city and everyday it is getting smaller!" He says when I ask if he feels at home here or misses America..."I miss my family and that is about it!" I think of the song at Walt Disney World..."It´s a small world after all!" I guess when you live in a city everybody knows everybody. "I was a barrister in San Francisco and when I came here I met Heiko and he invited me to join him. " he says.

 Am Brixener Hof 6    Tel +49 0941 51727

The smoothest coffee I ever tasted is here and it is given to me as a tea set almost. It is fltered at the table and it has a tea taste to it. Unique to Rehorik along with the 190° coffee that is made in the ancient coffee roaster that heats to 190°...unique to the world.
Heiko says, "I travel everywhere to find the small plantation owners. The year of 2015 I would love to see Peru. And later Bolivia but now only Peru. It is far to travel and I have so much to do here in the store. But that is what I most enjoy. To visit the people and to know the people. I hope when my guests come here that they experience that international flavor of the plantation owners." And I see that they do. That is life and it´s all about learning cultures (and beans!) around the world...

The owner is Alvin and he is hilariously cultured and sophisticated yet even those types clown around occaisionally as pictured above with his various poses..."My sister is Marketing and she does all of the Public Relations and Adverstiting Promotions to help me. Here is showing different styles!" It is adorable of course and I ask if I can show the pictures. Fun. Yet one of a kind.

        http://www.coloneum-antik.de/de/index.php
"The Biedermeier name is famous world-wide since it only made one piece of each of its designs...take the chairs it is maybe 6 chairs which is rare in a series that all go together yet each table such as the one pictured above is only one made in the entire world..."the cost of such a beauty? 12,000E...I would expect it too be much higher after all there is only one.  Watmarkt 3 Regensburg
Alvin shows me his favorite, the chairs and tables pictured above and I say that my favorite in the store is the red and black art deco chair and the matching vanity mirrored piece. "O these are the least expensive here...only 1,000E and 2,000E." he says...wow I say maybe after about 25 cities I can buy the chair! The furniture is beautiful and I ask if he has ever been to the World Famous South Beach Miami Art Deco Drive(the movie BirdCage was filmed in front of these beautiful buildings). He says that maybe he can visit Miami in the future and has a great American story for me. "Two people that came on the river boats on the Danube from New York walked into my store and fell in love with it. They bought 2 pieces and I sent them to America!" Wow. It is a small world.
The precious one of a kind chairs from Biedermeier and my favorite style of furniture the art deco piece pictured here is at the totally cool store named Coloneum in Regensburg. I´ve been trying to add these cool people almost 2 years and finally :)

Um how do I explain Astrid and her husband, Stefan and his brother Hermann? It takes an entire afternoon to do that. Number one love is the first requirement...I could live in the garden of the Brandl Beer Gardens and Restaurant at least one youthhood...walking the wooden planks up and down the courtyard and garage, the ivy covered huge stone walls that enclose the old brewery fortress, the "would you love to see the 14thCentury to 15th section of the house that my husband's mother use to live in? I would love to make it a special guest house that wealthy Americans say come to and stay a day or a maybe week and see that unique part of Regensburg and history that they otherwise could only see in museums?" says Astrid the beautiful blonde wife of the 5th generation owner of the restaurant...Would i? Um the answer is YES!

"It is the oldest authentic real Bavarian Privately owned restaurant in Regensburg," Stefan the owner says, "I've been here 5 Generations." In walks Maximillion, "And here is number 6,"says his proud mother Astrid. Another member of the family comes and his name is Hermann,"Make sure that you write the name of our brewery beer it is Lammbraeu." And Astrid the perfect host says, "Would you like a beer to taste. I should of asked" That is after she has shown me the massive complex, her mother-in-law's quarters, and the American collection of Corvettes! 1965 and 1968 of her husbands...and I say that yes of course I would. We wander into the huge brewery gardens and sit and laugh and talk about life drinking Weiße beer when Hermann joins us and there is friendly hilarious banter back and forth between Astrid and her brother-in-law.  "My daughter is in Miami now and she loves it. She says mom and dad must holiday anywhere except Miami since she wants her distance and privacy!" So? they travel to Sicily soon for fun the two:)

"We´re multi-cultural here, Tunisian lamps and shishas and Morocco and Syria. We have a mother of pearl and wooden inlaid poker table from Syria that you can´t get anymore since of the war. " says Al. It is precious. "In addition to all the hookahs too that students can afford since the shishas run about 60E. I don´t say O that chandelier is 300Euros and that shisha is 500Euros...everybody can buy shishas here. And my shisha lounge in about 30 kilometers from here has live music too!"
Cool rare ShiSha Hookahs from Syria can´t get anymore:) you can find here:)

The elegant boutique cafe and wine bar is kitty corner  from the Regensburg theater. Tucked away in the quaint cobblestoned alleys with the owner pictured here. "My husband is an architect and it is a risk to open the cafe for us. But almost 4 years now and I am very happy we have the cafe. An architect´s life is risky and here everyday I come...see the bar? I joke to my husband that he built a place for me to work! All of it in the cafe is built for me..." Julia says, when I ask her why she is always happy and smiling. "It is fun to come here everyday. I work upstairs  in the bakery with 3 people who bake for me. Cakes. And the cafe here is if you want to take a cake home maybe 2 pieces but people hardly ever will order 5 cakes say. It is a cafe with coffee that has cakes to eat while one drinks coffee." She says. The fact that it used to be a dark bakery is maybe why she is adamant about the coffee and cake thing. "Ya it was dark. Long. Definitely different in the bakery before we redid it! Now it is the perfect size."
The one thing that you will notice if you meet Julia is her laughter. She laughs and smiles all the time. A bundle of energy. "Yes I have fun here everyday. And I have two small children that love to come and eat the cakes and bake up in the bakery. But sometimes maybe the baker of the day doesn´t want small children baking cakes with them!" she laughs good-naturedly. "Sometimes the music people and the theater people from the Big theater next to us come in and they all know me and chat. They invite me to see the perfomances and I go. I love to meet these people and to see the shows. " Just then a friend walks in and hands Julia a ticket for the nights performance as if on cue! "See!" she says as she holds up the  ticket. "Tonight is a show I am seeing. " I told to Julia that it is fun to have such a life!

The owner of Kona Coffee in Regensburg is 31, "Yes I am young and I owned the cafe only one year. People come in and say that it feels different though. It is a feeling a mood. I let students exhibit from the photography workshop that is one thing that is mine and I kept the old with the new such as the writer´s quotes on the walls...to show that it is a lived in place. People can come and feel comfortable here. The mom´s all come with the babies. They know that is Kona´s specialty." Edward says. "I have 3 rooms. One is the classical coffee tables room, one is the kids and babies room where they all play and one is the have a drink eat the cakes etc. Each one has a different feeling and when the artists come to show me I always pick the ones that show that feeling." Lisa below has been here 3 years:)
Edward says, "I was in Sales before and when I heard that Kona is available I grabbed it. I had never been in the cafe before!" he says laughing. And again? "It was just a feeling that I had and I loved the cafe. I am happy now. it is fun to come to work everyday and the workers?" he searches for a word from German to English..."the workers are all different. They choose the music each morning and yes I let my people have freedom...sometimes..." he laughs, "too much!"
The mom´s are adorable as they show off their babies and one little baby keeps moving and hiding away...giggling the entire time...
I take a picture of the young teenagers being well teenagers... "Yes that shows the youth of Regensburg." he says. And indeed each room has that edgy young workshop feel to it. Edward says "feeling" a lot...to try to explain just what makes Kona different.
"Now the project in addition to seeing and interviewing for the workshop exhibits...is to improve lunch!" he says...although they have bagels.;) so I am happy!

http://andreagarburg.de/ Andrea Garburg herself with members of her staff at the two story sleek modern salon that she created and owned since 10 Years. Andrea speaks only German! yet we tried to communicate. With the help of Kate her blue haired assistant!, "We have all for the entire body massage upstairs and for the face and hair and nails. It is a full service salon, " says the shy blue haired Kate...

The salon can be entered from the main floor or through a side door by ringing the buzzer market Garburg. And swoosh upstairs to the elegant private area where you can have the master´s work on your hair...seeing the beauty of Regensburg without being seen!
Andrea Garburg - Haare · Kosmetik · Wellness
I loved the friendliness of the staff in such a cool salon where sometimes the snobbiness makes me turn back around, "Let me grab Andrea to say Hi except she only speaks German..." warns the warm Kate when I first saw her, and off she runs to find the owner who is smiling and gracious and charming. Who says you need to speak the same language to be understood! Try it you´ll love it.
THE DIFFERENCES OF CELEBRATING NEW YEAR´S EVE IN AMERICA AND GERMANY...o But in Kroatia! Did you know you have to wear RED?

       SYLVESTER
"We went to the filmbuhle club but first we came from Rosenheim and from Rosenheim we spent two hours drinking Bavarian beers and to a friend´s flat where we only knew 2 people and from here we met all the people at the house party the next 3 hrs and to the club at midnight and I Simon woke up at 7am at a different flat and I don´t know how I got there but this one here is Matthew he woke up in the friend´s flat at 8 and had a beer." they sheepishly giggle and the other one Sebastian says, "I went to the friend´s flat at 7 am and made it in although it is too early and slept." Would they want a new year at the 2015? "The entire last year is the best and we would do it all again. Every Saturday we party with friends and every Sunday we climb the mountains near King Ludwigs castle." says Matthew and Simon, but Sebastian who repairs roofs says, "I would love more holidays and motorcross!"
The two adorables..."we´re eating pizza somewhere and just grabbing a couple of slices...and lets see just walking from club to club to bar to bar spontaneously to find some fun place but we don´t want to pay a big price to enter a club!" they say and they are adorable trust me they tell me about a tradition that Bavarians do of putting a metal in heat and into water and in the water it makes a shape and the shape is a heart if that is the guess and it is of different shapes and that is a game that the Bavarians play and yes they say there is a Youtube video of it!     bleigiessen
Here is a group of goofy students having fun at Sylvester, "Yes and here is a id it is a health id i think we found it on the table here..." okay i say lets include this too since he looks like the free syrian army guy in my photos on yolasite...sophie someone...okay sophie if you lost your id find it at the san francisco coffee company where we gave it to the lady in case you were looking for it...um Um um Um um Um um... "we went to  the cafe Legato, " they say and say that they spent a lot of Sylvester there! , " I am Andreas in the middle and I would like to train more muscles, I am Leoni and I wouldlove to do better on my Alevels, and I am Michael and I wouldl ove to earn mmore money, spend less on alcohol..." they laugh and say that yes Michael spends tons of money on alcohol! I say that if you spent 3 Euros everyday on alcohol and put it in a little box bank instead that at the 31st of December of 2015 you would have 1,300E and could all go to Tahiti.

Jo says, "We find furniture around Europe and we redo it such as here. A guest asked if we could custom-make the head board of the bed and we painted "open" on it!" (The puppy loves it too.)

The first day that they opened was October 1 2013 and that day they had all the friends and fellow merchants on the street in and outside drinking Prosecco and horse duevers..."That is fun working with all my friends who constantly call me and ask me to come and cut their hair but I say now I have the store and they come in here instead. That is fun and going to France and to Austria and to Italy and actually finding the furniture is fun. We have calls from everybody who asks us to come and pick up the furniture. We take it here and we redo it to make it beautiful. That is what I enjoy the most." says Jo.

Here is my favorite item in the interior design store...a Prachtvolles, altes Küchen-Buffet..."We went to Belgium and bought it from a sale in a huge home...not exactly a Palace a little smaller!" Jo and Ludwig say when I ask where they found such a beautiful piece of furniture...and the proudly show me the pull-out cutting boards! COOL.   THE BEST NEWS? You can order the kuchen-Buffet from the internet site and have it sent to America for less than 1/4 of what you could find a beautiful 100 year old authentic collectible in America for! http://de.dawanda.com/…/73216099-Prachtvolles-altes-Kuechen…

When I ask how long the store has been opened? "1 year and a couple of months..." says Ludwig. Wow. And what they did before the store? "Ludwig was the manager in KARE  in the city of Regensburg and I cut hair!" Says Jo and he smooths his bald head! I laugh and ask if he misses cutting hair? "No, I don´t miss cutting hair and I don´t miss having hair!" Ludwig laughs and says that it is much more fun in the store. I ask if they´re home is as beautiful as the store? "It is our taste in the store. Our home is like this but the store is more beautiful." Jo says. I say that I can imagine that their home is gorgeous. If you are in the Bavarian region come directly to the store or order one online. IT is more fun in the store though!

Marco started the company about 12 years now and has 3 people total that work for Robotics. "We build the platforms at the company and work with England who supplies us with the sensors. We went to a MIT fair in Boston where we showed one of the Robotic hands and NASA picked it up. I worked with NASA about 10 days. It is cool because the Robotic hand that we made is a lot less than the million euro hand that a big competitor had made. "My hand shook the Prime Minister´s hand of Bavaria at a Bavarian fair and the million euro hand couldn´t shake it because it was too strong! We thought that is funny since ours is a little company and we made it to the Prime Minister:)"he says.
Stefan has owned the Hempy´s store in Regensburg about 10 years now, "Yes my father has a import and export business in Morrocco which is my favorite country and my mother has one of these stores in Straubing...it is a circle of the family" he says. "And of course we have the shi-sha."

Here is a lovely couple who, "we´re doing fondue with another couple. Only us and two other people. And um...funny hats and favors on Sylvester? Um, no, since the Germans they´re much more concerned with the way that they appear such as image. We would seem to silly to wear such things...and yes I know that Americans wear these things!" she says...I tell her if you google a 1,000Euros per plate dinner on New Years eve in New York city I can guarantee that not only will it come complete with pictures of these party favors but the people attending a 1,000Euro plate dinner care more about who has the coolest New Year´s Eve hats!

The Architecture is outstandingly superb with sleek streamlined features, steel welded stairs, all angles and elegance steering you into the modern world yet settling into a 12 century! house, pub, barn...what was this amazing structure you might ask as you sit down to dine on the international menu surrounded with religious art and the owner´s wife´s stunning paintings.

Monika Schmidt is the artist of these paintings, "They only are hung here. It is works only for my home. The Roter Hahn is my home and I paint these with love. They are not for sale."  She says when I ask her if anyone comes i and wants to buy the paintings. "Yes they do but they fit here. I say o here is a wall that needs a color to fit it and I paint it and hang it here..." She says as behind her is one of my favorites of hers a wall of ivory with splashes of colors and words. They´re picassoish yet different...she has a world wide talent in her art and when I tell her that she is uninterested! She shrugs, "They only to my home. They fit here. Above the stairway in the main dining room is religious art depicting the giving and receiving of food as in the gift of life and although these paintings take on the feel of the 1000 year old stone wall set below and behind the stairs where one of her modern paintings hang, they set the stage to let hers in. It is a elegant restaurant and hotel that showcases the beauty of the 12th century beams and the 15th century well, yet allows the famous Regensburg architect Martin Scheuerer to then create his beauty with steel structures and modernism. http://www.roter-hahn.com/

Monika, "The history of the Red Rooster is that there used to be a street named the Scherer alley where how do you say..." she makes the charades of cutting material and i say, "o a sewing seamstress"... and Monika replys, "Yes and when the people with horses and carriages come here and they take lamb´s..." as she makes charades come alive I shout, "lamb´s wool! and it is a loom:" she smiles, "Yes and when they come they come from the shearing to the pub. At the time it is the biggest pub in Regensburg and they all come here. It wasn´t a restaurant at the time only a pub and now it is a catering, hotel, restaurant. My children both they´re involved in the business. My daughter studied at the Sansibar in Sylt which is world famous and my son is studying to a chef. He has 1 and 1/2 years of master classes:)"

Im Gewerbepark A 25,is where you can find these crazy guys...

Alright and the big question is...does it really matter if the guitar costs 100Euros or 5,000E? "Yes it does. The guitars that sound the better quality is the 5,000E ones. They sound better and you can definitely tell the difference. That is about the range in the store. And no we don´t carry Gibson guitars from America simply because they will only deal in high volume and we deal in smaller quantity and high quality. We do have Fender from America." I ask if he could pose for a picture and you can see that he is a real guitar player since he doesn´t just stand near the guitars but actually picks one up and plays:) Since it is the biggest and  first musical instrument store in Regensburg they know tonsof people in the Music business and he says that he sends a lot of people to the Music Academy to learn. It is fun at the store and I played the drums in the private drum room...cool.

The number of people in the owner´s band he says, "Is about 12 to 13. We play about 5 times per year. I play the guitar only and everybody else in the store is a specialist in thta musical instrument...such as drums and keyhboards. Hmm and the way that I choose the guitars? That is easy I choose the guitars that I love to play myself. I try each one and play it."
